The acclaimed English actor Helen Mirren, previously recipient of an Oscar, four Baftas, three Golden Globes, five Emmy Awards, and a Tony, is set to earn an additional major award to her trophy case: the Cecil B DeMille Golden Globe lifetime achievement award.

Award Event

The actress, 80, who was given a damehood in 2003 and named a BAFTA fellow in 2014, will pick up the award during a presentation on the eighth of January, just prior to the primary Globes ceremony occur, as part of a ceremony promoted by the Globes as Golden Eve.

Also part of the event will be the presentation of the organization’s Carol Burnett honor for small-screen contributions, the recipient of which is still to be revealed. Previous recipients included Viola Davis along with Ted Danson.

“Dame Helen represents a force of nature, with a career is truly extraordinary,” said the Golden Globes president, the Globes’ leader. “Her transcendent performances and devotion to her art persistently influence generations of artists and audiences alike. It is a profound honour to award her the Cecil B DeMille award.”

Notable Roles

Mirren rose to fame during the seventies via important performances in stage productions in the West End of London and with the RSC and in cinematic works like O Lucky Man!, Caligula & The Long Good Friday.

In the 1990s, her lead performance in the crime series Prime Suspect increased her popularity even more. Other important films include Excalibur, The Madness of King George, The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover, Gosford Park & Calendar Girls.

She received an Oscar for her portrayal as Queen Elizabeth II in 2006 film The Queen, a character she reprised during 2013 in The Audience, the stage production by Peter Morgan regarding the encounters with the Queen and the PM Thatcher, a role for which she earned a Tony during 2015.

Latest Works and Future Roles

• Subsequent cinematic works include Hitchcock, The Last Station, Woman in Gold, The Debt, Golda and Barbie, which she narrated.
• Her role in the streaming adaptation of The Thursday Murder Club has received positive reviews with award talk is building regarding her role as a dying matriarch in the film by Kate Winslet first directing effort, Goodbye June.
• In the coming year, she will appear portraying Patricia Highsmith in Corbijn’s dramatic film, Switzerland.

Golden Globe nods will be announced on the eighth of December, featuring Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another, the movie from Chloé Zhao Hamnet along with Ryan Coogler’s Sinners expected to feature heavily.
