Fresh Details Surface Regarding the Location of the Bodies of Rob and Michele Reiner Remains
Fresh particulars have surfaced concerning the tragic passing of esteemed director Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were located at their Los Angeles home property on Sunday.
The Alarm
As detailed in an account referencing a confidential source, a practitioner arriving for an appointment first raised the alarm after not being able to enter the house. The therapist then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives close by.
When she went into the residence, Romy discovered her father's body. It is said she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, without knowing at that moment that her mother's body was also inside. A companion who had accompanied her promptly called 911. Subsequently, paramedics located Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Legal Proceedings
Authorities have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of first-degree murder, including the alleged use of a deadly weapon, reportedly a knife. He is now in custody without bail.
Disputed Reports
The confidential informant challenged several earlier details. It was stated that while Romy Reiner told emergency responders that her brother Nick lived in a separate structure on the property, she did not name him as a potential suspect at that juncture.
The source also disputed widely reported suggestions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been especially "apprehensive" about Nick's actions in the preceding period. The source claimed the family was "accustomed to working through [Nick's] problems together."
The statement includes reports of alleged "unpredictable" behavior by Nick at a gathering thrown by Conan O'Brien on the night before the bodies were found. Although the source noted they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "chastised" his son at the party, they said that suggestions of a "heated argument" between the two were untrue.
Ongoing Inquiry Timeline
Per law enforcement officials, the coroner had not yet established as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died Saturday night or on Sunday. Preliminary media reports indicated the state of their bodies suggested they had been deceased for a period of time.
Nick Reiner was apprehended at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the neighbourhood of Exposition Park, roughly 15 miles from the family home. He was set to have a hearing on Tuesday, but his attorney, Alan Jackson, said his client had not been medically cleared and would not be present until Wednesday at the earliest.
