The Liverpool midfielder has disclosed that Mohamed Salah apologised to the group of players in the wake of the uproar from his recent interview.

The Incident

The striker was dropped from a key Champions League match after voicing frustrations and suggesting his rapport with Arne Slot had broken down.

“Salah is an individual and he can say his own stuff,” the midfielder said. “His apology was clear and was like: ‘If my words hurt anyone, I'm sorry.’”

The head coach has chosen not to comment publicly on whether he was apologised to from the player.

Looking Ahead

The player stated that the squad's reaction was unchanged. “Nothing about him changed, he had a big smile on his face and it was business as usual,” he continued.

He also suggested that a teammate fighting for a place is preferable. “It's clear there are different methods you can go about things,” he said. “But if a lad’s fine to just not start, then I think that’s concerning.”

On-Field Response

Liverpool's form have been impressive in the period after the initial controversy. Jones believes the Salah's words were never meant to harm the team.

“When there’s been any sort of anger, it’s always been from a place of caring,” the midfielder stated. “It's behind us and we’re building chemistry, performing and securing victories.”
