President Trump Welcomes Families of Shot Military Personnel to White House

Former President Trump stated on Sunday that he has asked the relatives of a National Guard member tragically killed last week to come to the White House.

He added that he conversed with her parents and they were “deeply grieving”.

Information on the Tragic Incident

Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a attack on Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her comrade, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, remains hospitalized in critical condition.

Vigils across West Virginia have taken place in their remembrance.

Presidential Offer

The president explained he’s discussed a visit to the White House for the parents of both individuals of the West Virginia Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a difficult moment, visit the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to her,” Trump informed reporters. “And likewise with Andrew, recover or not.”

Public Reaction

Community members gathered over the weekend at Webster County high school in the state to remember Beckstrom.

Both they had been working with the military unit as part of the president’s national effort to support law enforcement in DC.

Paying Tribute to the Soldier

“Sarah was the kind of student that teachers hoped for. She carried herself with quiet strength, a warm expression and a positive energy that inspired those around her,” Hankins, the principal of her alma mater, told the Associated Press. “She was kind, considerate and always willing to assist people.”

Funeral details for Beckstrom are still being arranged.

Legal Actions and Government Changes

Officials have accused a 29-year-old individual from Afghanistan with one count of first-degree murder and charges of attempted murder while armed.

The tragedy caused the government to pause asylum applications and temporarily stop granting visas to holders of travel documents.

Condition of the Airman

The airman, a resident of Martinsburg, began his service in 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman high school, according to the news agency.

He remains under medical supervision and is “battling to survive”, West Virginia governor the governor said on a news program.

Attorney general Pam Bondi told the program that she also intended to speak to his relatives.

Impact of Beckstrom

Sarah, from her hometown, graduated from her high school in 2023 and enlisted soon after, working as a law enforcement officer with distinction, according to the state guard.

“She had a lot of goodness and she certainly had bravery,” Morrisey told the gathering at the service. “Though her time was cut short, she has created a legacy that’s going to be remembered always.”
