Authorities in Tasmania are attempting to pinpoint a pink slime that has appeared on a isolated coast, with some scientists anxious it could be an phytoplankton proliferation.

Widespread Presence Along Coastline

The magenta-hued slime appeared along a portion of a southern bay about 37 miles south of the city. A like substance has also been noted on areas of a nearby shore and an additional coastal site.

"Typically one notices a proliferation of this algae after a bloom of another organism, or an event such as a fish reproduction," she noted.

Calls for Investigation and Community Health

Lilly Henley, who took samples of the magenta ooze in the state, said it looked like the possible outbreak had "expanded greatly" and suggested the fish farming business was the probable cause, pointing to similar cases overseas.

"So Tasmania needs to issue a strong warning here, the officials and the regulators need to act to this. We need to analyse the specimens we've gathered and we need to inform the people here," she stated.

The scientist said she had concerns for community health after feeling a numbness along her arms and face while being splashed with affected seawater.

Claims of Lifeless Animals and Demands for Official Response

An advocacy organization has reported dead octopus and dead sea cucumbers appearing on the coast, with a veteran activist describing the situation as an "ecological crisis" and calling on the state premier to see and "take control the reaction that officials must be undertaking".

"The leader needs to know this is a disaster in the happening, economically as well as ecologically."

Speaking to reporters, the leader commented he was not aware of any links between the event and the salmon industry, emphasizing expert examination was needed before judgments could be drawn.
